What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.
This Is Fine began as a story about the "American Dream" going off-script. But as the world has shifted, so has our mission. We believe that storytelling is an act of resistance, and we are committed to using this series as a sanctuary for those whose lives and identities are currently under attack.
We stand firmly on these pillars:
1. Community as a Fortress
When the systems meant to protect us fail, we protect each other. Our series explores the radical necessity of mutual aid and communal care. We believe that the "light" we create for one another is the only way through the darkness of systemic hostility.
2. Radical Inclusivity is Non-Negotiable
We recognize that present-day horrors—specifically the attacks on trans lives, immigrant families, and LGBTQ+ rights—are not just "politics"; they are direct threats to our friends, our cast, and our audience. We are committed to centering voices that deviate from the "norm" and celebrating the bodies and identities that the world tries to marginalize.
3. Resistance Through Joy
The world often demands that marginalized people only exist in stories of trauma. We refuse that. We believe that finding joy, movement, and friendship in the face of oppression is a profound act of defiance. We will tell the truth about the struggle, but we will always prioritize the triumph of the human spirit.
4. Authenticity Over Apathy
We reject the "This is Fine" mentality that requires us to look away from injustice to maintain our own comfort. We are committed to an evolving narrative that responds to the present moment with honesty, grit, and wit.
To our trans, immigrant, and queer family: This story is for you. You are seen, you are celebrated, and you belong here.
